Lithuania joined the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

Lithuania has officially become the 36th member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) – a community of developed countries.

The President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite made a statement and stressed that Lithuania is ready, together with the OECD, to seek a solution to meet the challenges of the global economy.

The special economic survey of the OECD noted that over the past 10 years, economic growth in Lithuania was higher than in most of the member countries of this organization.

Estonia has become a member of the OECD in 2010, and Latvia – in 2016. First membership in the Organization for

Economic Cooperation and Development will cost Lithuania 2.8 million euros per year, but it may decrease to 1.8 million euros till 2022.

OECD is one of the world’s leading economic organizations, which includes the 36 most developed countries. For now they are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia , USA, Turkey, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Chile, Switzerland, Sweden, Estonia, South Korea, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania.
